Can we just turn up at chester county court or is it adviseable to make an appointment

Sorry about that,
each court has it's own procedure.
In some you may just turn up on certain weekdays. With these it's wise to establish the opening time of the court and be there in advance as queue's can form and sometimes they limit the number per day.
In others you will need to make an appointment which in some cases can be as long as 6 weeks from booking.
Call the court and ask to speak to the bankruptcy clerk.

ours is a 'just turn up' court. It is worth ringing anyway and also double checking you have the right court for your address.

I would say it is as they will be able to give you some indication as to when the queueing usually starts and obviously confirm you're going to the right place.
