Hiya. The notice will go into the local paper and the London Gazette unfortunately. The thing that worries me the most is that your tax code will change, you will not pay tax for the rest of the tax year, April '09, so your employer will realise that you are br by this. (the tax should go to your Official Receiver to go into your br). Check in your employment contract or ring HR anonymously and ask if br would effect your employment, good luck xx

it doesen't always go into the paper, mine didn't, choose a day to go BR that coincides with a printing deadline for your local rag (check the letters page - that usually states it ) it's not guaranteed but you might have a chance. the wages people at the nhs wont be bothered, its all done on computer anyway, it would take some scheming jobsworth type with a nasty streak to notice the tax code; truly, the stress of the debt is much more than the workplace knowing, you will find that this is not as bad as you feared after a few months into the Bankruptcy. you end up just dealing with it, nobody is interested, but most are sympathetic. |

I agree antp. I was mortified when I was first told we would have to file br, now I don't give a hoot who knows. Anyhow, it's becoming more acceptable and the way the economy is going, we're going to be growing as a group, xx

Hi there, just reading this post and like you lot i dont care now who knows. I only had 1 concern and that was on hubbies behalf when we did ours and that was the security act for HM Forces info. Hes ex army but still on the reservist list and due to past tours of duty i did not want all his info placed in the public eye, like i said for security reasons and i think that they may be able to do that for him. Im not bothered, its now becoming a way of life, the security guard at our court said that its more commmon place now and not to be ashamed, he said now people when they walk by say hello and tell him how they are getting on now they are sorted out. He also said that its not a stigma anymore and basically tryed to say keep your head high, as unlike many others still out there we have decided to do something about our situation. That took courage. I know im famous now, i can be found on the insolvancy register but i had no choice and now im glad we took this step, i know we dont know where we will live etc but my marriage nearly ended over the seriousness of the debts that had encapsulated us and we had to decide what to do and just to these debts becoming so unmanagable we just had to swallow our pride and go for it. If anyone asks and i want them to know it will be because of the housing market and the credit crunch, anything else its non of their bees wax. LOL JO

I can honestly say that the people who care about us the most havn't judged us or thought bad about us going BR once! They all knew how bad we were struggling and that our relationship was on the rocks because of all the stress we were under and they are genuinely happy that we have cme through it and there is light at the end of the tunnel. My work collegues know and they have been very supportive, infact some have come to me for advice about debt because they are in similar situations themselves but were trying to bottle it up - which as us lot know all too well does no good! I dont feel ashamed at all about goin BR now I feel Ive been able to do somthing positive and get my life back in control! :) Helen x
Thanks for your Help,Helen x |
