I have approx £16'000 worth of debts - i have recently got a job paying £25'000 but i will be leaving the country soon and need to close this problem of my debts.
I am living with my parents and experience domestic problems and therefore need to get away, renting accomodation will be expensive and therefore i have decided to leave the country for a safer future with my partner.
I would like to file for bankruptcy because i really want this debt over with, in order to start a new clean life, but if i wish to move countries may it not be given to me? and according to the salary i will be receiving from 1st september (thats when my new job starts) will i be suitable for bankruptcy?
If i was not looking to leave the country will there be a better chance in me being issued bankruptcy? I really just want to clear my debt so i can move out from my house and live my life without the pressured im having but i cant rent out a place, food, etc and pay off that amount because i dont wish to continue living in this country - my husband lives abroad and he cant come to live in this country.
If i left the country and didnt pay my debts what exactly would happen? Suppose i came back here after a year or so to vist my brother would i be arrested at the airport? (im sorry im desperate). Please can you let me know the possibilities for me - i just want to know in the situation im in now do you think they would accept my filing for bankruptcy?
What exactly is the critera - i mean how bad of a situation must one be in to have this?

Hi being insolvent means neither your assets or your disposable income are sufficient to clear your debts within a reasonable time. I assume you have no assets but a salary of £25K and living with parents would suggest to repay the debts is within your scope.
What you've not mentioned is, having moved abroad, will you still be able to remain in this job?
Moving abroad in itself does not prevent you declaring bankruptcy provide you give good contact details to the Official Receiver. The key here is will you keep the job and what will your disposable income be after expenses have been covered in the country you plan to move to.
