Hi John, Thanks for the info. I went down to the local Courts today and picked up a BR packet/applcation as my printer went on the blink. While I was there, the clerk told me I should file BR paperwork there. I advised that I had been told that I should go to Strand but she said she double-checked with the local OR and they sad I could file locally. I would prefer to file n London. Does it matter where file? Thanks
I would call the High Court, ask for the BR dept and put the question to them.
As far as I know as a non uk citizen you have to file there. But your local court official says not. One of us is either wrong or not up to date with some new policies.
I do know that if you qualify for a local court then the High Court will know and send you there rather than give you the choice, probably because they're so busy compared to county courts.
Going back not too long ago I had thought each and everyone of us had the choice of our local court or the high court but when I called them regarding a client that needed to go BR asap (the local court had a 6 week wait with a charge over her property due to land within a week) they said she would have to go to the county court.
The whole thing seems to be liable to change due to internal decisions within the system which the rest of us aren't informed of so we get to hear of these changes by word of mouth.
