I have looked at my credit file a few times lately. I got a months free trial with Credit Expert, mainly to monitor what was happening so I could get a rented place sorted. It contains lots of info, but one thing which stood out was on the summary page, where it says I have used 67% of my available credit! I found that unbelievable considering I couldn't afford to make my monthly payments!
I have no idea how ( and who?) they come to that conclusion at all.
But when I got rejected for an IVA before I went for BR, Northern rock rejected it, saying I wasn't in enough debt! It just goes to show that they sometimes base their decisions on inaccurate information.

Has anyone else had any experience of this?

This is a new one on me.
Let us know how you get on.
Im waiting till next year before i get a look at my file, then i will check it every 3 months until discharge and see if i have to send anything off.
Good luck

Hi GP
If you look on your report it will show you the limit on each of your cards etc.
So if you had a limit of £10,000 on a credit card and you had £6700 owing, then you have used up 67% of your credit.
Hope this is self explanatory.

Yeah but then it says I have £5650 of available credit.
The figures just don't add up.
Cheers tho

That will be the amount "spare" on your credit cards.
(or it should be)
I wouldn't worry too much about it tho

I recently checked out my Credit Report, to see if I was financially associated with my housemate, with a company called 'Check My File' who give you access to all 3 Credit Reference Agencies - it made quite interesting reading!

Although I had stopped paying my creditors for 2 / 3 months, it still showed that I had an 'above average' rating and all sorts of weird stuff...

Hello,

I can't believe that everything stays on there for 5 or 6 years! I can understand Bankruptcy, but a store card that i had 5 years ago is still on there, and i only ever put one thing on the store card!!!

Can't wait for the 5 years to be up so all of these cards i havent used for ages comes off and to send them my certificate of discharge in a couple of months so that all of the cards associated with my bankrutcy can be explained.

They all say different things at the mo, says defaulted on some of them, and settled on others....very strange!
