Hi

Could anyone give us some advice. Our mortgage payment was due yesterday and we cancelled the DD at the weekend. We had a phone call today saying call them urgentley. Do we tell them we are going BR in a couple of weeks, do we try to aviod their calls, do we say we are trying to raise the money for the end of the month as hubby has been made redundant. Dont know what to do for the best - if we tell them we are going BR does that mean they can get us out quicker???? The mortgage company are Advantage part of the Morgan Stanley group, they have a really bad reputation.

Does anyone know the best way to go.

Dee

Hi Dee

Is it your intention to let the house go as in repo if it is i would just do as soscared has done.

I missed 2 payments on mine just before BR so i could get the fees together, as i wanted to stay i ignored the letters till we came back from the court then called and made arrangements to repay the months missed. I have agreed a repayment back over 9 months for us as like i have said we are staying put for now.
Take care

Hi Jo

We are going to let the house go - it is almost in negative equity. The thing is we have a rental lined up, through a friend he knows we are going BR and is fine with that. We cannot move in until mid December so we need to hang on here till then. I am worried if we tell the mortgage company they will get us out before mid December.

Hi Dee

They wont get you out that quickly. U have to miss 3 payments then they go to court i think it is then if not agreement is made to repay the monies owed then a further 4-6 weeks before the repo would come into force.

Hope i have helped. :-)

Thanks Jo, thanks needafriend.

We just need to stay put till December. I think we will try to avoid all phone calls until we have gone BR.

Hi Dee
Was thinking about you today wandering if you had heard anything from them, they havent got my new number so i'm expecting a letter to land any day.

Just sit tight they cant do anything yet, like Jo says its highly likely to be mid January/Feb before proceedings start.

Take care - keep posting admin still havent done anything about sending you my email, as far as I know?? x

Hi all,

Maortgage companies are currently panicking in the current economic climate. Some (in the case of a voluntary reposession) are asking you to sign paperwork which means you'd still be liable for a shortfall even if you go BR. If you are looking at a reposession situation, please carefully read anything they ask you to sign! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
