If someone had debt on, say a NatWest credit card they couldnt pay back AND had a NatWest mortgage,,, are the different departments likely to share info and effect the mortgage?

many thanks

Hi Mancunian

I also have the same worry i have debts which have been written off with Lloyds tsb yet my mortgage is with C&G which is LLoyds.
Once BR i dont think it will affect your mortgage but im not sure on that and i dont think they can put the debt onto your home either even though they may be the same place.
I am not sure if all i have said is right i dare say someone who is more up on this will be along soon and can help us out.
Best of luck

Strictly speaking, these are usually two seperate limited companies (although part of the same group) so shouldn't share confidential information in that manner. However, it is more than likely that there was something in the small print when you signed the agreement to say they can share this type of information between different parts of their group of companies.

So then Julian each of those dept could have an inkling to whats going on, but as i had said they cant do anything like add the debt onto the mortgage or put a charge on the property to try and get there monies back.

Is that right.
