hi all,
we have decided to wait untill after xmas for br, my question is should we inform our creditors of our intentions yet? the phonecalls have started from the secured lenders already & only missed 1 payment so far. Also should we hand back the keys to northern rock or wait untill br & let the or sort it out? we have already moved into a rented place & havent given forward addresses to anyone as we still have the keys for the other place & can collect mail everyday.
There is so much to consider & somedays get really scary, I hate all the call dodging, it makes me feel like a criminal
As always, any advice is greatly apriciated x

Hi bothskint

It is entirely up to you as to whether you inform the creditors of your intention, but seeing as its a long way off it may give them enough time to try and do other things to get their money.

That may not be the case, but i would air on the side of caution as its about 9 weeks till Christmas and depending on the company they may try and get somehting started in the meantime.

I did not inform any of my creditors until the day of BR but i did tell them that i needed 2 months grace to sort things out, it did not stop the calls or letters but it did stop further action.

Hi
and in respect of the house keys, I would keep hold of them until the property is virtually repossessed as you need to continue to collect the mail from the creditors that do not know your new address for as long as possible. If, and only if, a creditor does take action you need to be aware of it so you should continue to collect the mail.
