Hi

Dont know if anyone can help me with this or can tell me if they have had different information from the Abbey.

Basically i have a full current account with Abbey and informed them of my BR. They have said i cannot keep the account and it will be shut down (even if the or is not interested in it). I am not allowed to open a basic account with them now as they dont allow BR people. The only way i could keep a basic account is if 1. I had a joint basic account with someone else who did not go br or 2. If i previously had a basic account open with them prior to br.

She did seem very certain of this. Any advice would be welcome.

Jenny

Hi Jenny

These banks are a law under themselves, if that is what they are saying then that must be what they have implicated now.

I would however now apply for maybe the coop account as this seems to be the bank of the moment, i have heard others mention Alliance & Leicester basic account, so you could give that a try.

Apart from that i think its a case of trial and error and see how you go.

Best of luck

Jo x

Gettingthere - I already hold an account, but the advice today was over the phone.

Jo - I do have the coop account already set up ( i did it pre br). I was initially going to use them both for different things, however that has changed now.

I have since got off the phone to coop and they say that i can now start using the account without fear of anything happening.

Thank you both

Jenny

I was with Cahoot (subsidary of Abbey), and was told that I cannot keep my account. Alliance and Leicester is now part of the same group, so doubt they would offer a basic account either?
