Hi Guys,

I will be posting alot more from now as the ball is now really rolling.

I am declaraing bankruptcy on 1 December mainly due to having to miss two months mortgage payments and also I read that the tax code will unlikely be put to zero if in December. I am on maternity leave and not due back until March Sop how likley is it my tax code will be put to zero bearing in mind I pay about £50 a month tax on my maternity pay.

Today I received a default notice from egg - they have ignored my offer to pay £5 a month. It says if I do not pay full balance by 11/11 then they will issue proceedings. Do I need to declared bankruptcy before this date?

It didn't really feel real until I got this today and it has scared me a bit.

Thanks

Hi help

I would not worry too much about egg these are pretty standard letters.

My understanding of the NT Tax code is that really it needs to be instigated before Nov/Dec for it to come into effect so that may not be an issue for you they may not infact start it on your tax code from that date as it may not be worth while.

You may however still have to sign an Income IPA for them even if the code may not change.

dont worry about egg, i had the same thing with t.s.b. they refused the payment and took out a c.c.j. against me, i just kept making the payment anyway and they suddenly decided to accept. when money's involved, big companies resort to scare tactics when in reality theres very little they can do, offering the payment in the first place will only go in your favour!

Egg issued me a default notice 4 weeks before my bankruptcy, they were sweet as a nut when I called them and told them the situation.

I was declared BR August 7th, and still haven't started paying my NT IPA yet.
