I am planning on opening a basic bank account for my wages to go into so my bank dont try and reclaim their overdraft before i go BR. I am currently with Halifax, and there is no Co-op near me. Does anyone know if RBS do a basic bank account which i could keep when i go BR? |

Hi Goingunder
I had the same problem with getting a bank account that would take a BR and also thought the Coop would be no good as my nearest branch is 40miles away. That said i did open my account and it was the best thing i could have done, i do most of mine online, but also via our post office. They are very helpfull and i found them as good as all the others. The distance to the branch is not a problem as i dont need to go to the branch to do my stuff.
Take Care

Hi I just got my new co op acc. details today and will call my pension people on monday to change payment to this acc. - this is all happening before i go br - i have already don my br forms which are at cab so i can get help with completing them before i present to court. now i am a bit perplexed as to what to declare/change on this form - if i dont mention the new acc. on the forms before presenting that would be a lie, or if i leave it until pension paid in (and bills, rent paid first) and do mention it later to OR would it be ok do you think? its all a matter of timing and survival it seems - any advice welcome. Im glad others are finding the co op are good, they were really nice on the phone despite my gloomy self. |

Hi Useful ( much better name) I think you should declare it on the SOA for the OR as it is actually open on the day you go BR. It will be fine just tell them you need this account for wages etc. As long as the co-op know you were going BR that shouldn't be a problem there end either. Take care

I agree with Tracy - you need to declare the account on your SOA, as you have to declare all open accounts. There won't be a problem with the Co-op, and the OR will advise them that they have no interest in the account as it's only a basic account.

Hi Useful,
It will soon be over then you can stop sweating for good! Forget the letters, there is a proper structure for them to go through and you will be well on your way to being BR before they can do anything. Have you got a date yet. Dont forget that some courts have a waiting lists , mine was 7 weeks. Good luck TracyXX |
