Hi both hubby and me went BR in june this year we have just recieved a letter from OR office asking for new income and expenditure form for them to check whether we can have early discharge. (I & E is the same as when we filed for BR) Can anyone explain the benefit of early discharge etc . I dont pay andIPA neither does hubby although he is on NIL Tax code until April 09. We pay his money every week to another agent as directed by OR.
Advice much appreciated. Thank you

You lucky thing!
That is certainly good news. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but the benefit is that if, for example, you won the lottery or came into some inheritance you do not have to declare it to the OR. Also, three months after your discharge date you will come off the Insolvency Register.

Hey Tanya, that is great news, well done you.
Basically fill out that form and return within 14 days and hopefully that will be that, your old life gone and a new one def started.
All debts that could be written of will be and you will no longer be liable at all for those old debts.
You can do what you like with your monies, but remember if the OR wants to speak to you at any time after discharged you still have a duty to speak to them and help with anything that may not have been dealt with prior to discharge like a home for example.

the OR will then write to the creditors asking if there is any reason why they believe you should remain in Br until 12 months. Most creditors don't respond.
this process may take up to 2 months.
good luck with the last bit.

Thank you all so so much for your info. Its been a great help . Will have to wait and see now, will i get a letter from OR confirming discharge? I understand i have to pay for a discharge certificate if i want one?

Hi Tanya
Yes if you do want an actual certificate of dishcarge it will cost £60. To get one of these you need to apply to the court no more than 2 weeks before and obtain the cert that way.
Some like Skippy have just printed of the page from the insolvency site after it has been updated to show that your now discharged, that saves you £60 but again its up to you.
