I currently have approx £30k+ of unsecured debt. I am just about managing to cover the monthly payments but I am finding it increasingly difficult. My gross annual income is £16,200 at the moment. I don't want to go along the route of an IVA. Do you think this is a good option for me and do you think the courts will accept my bankruptcy request? I am currently a tenent so have no assets.

Many Thanks
Jenny

Hi Jenny and welcome

Have you spoken to anyone about your options, as firstly i would recommend a call to our helpline, where we can go over the options with you.
That would be your first step.

BR does sound an option but without know a littlemore detail it is hard to know for certain.

Please call us and we will give you some one to one advice.

Dear Jenny

In your situation the Judge will issue you the bankruptcy order if that is what you want. He/She depending on which court you go to may not even see you to speak with, but if they do its just to be satisfied you know what you are doing and you have taken advice, and that he can see from your statement of affairs your assetts do not cover your debts.

It is extremely rare, so rare I have never known it, only heard of it, and I have overseen over two hundred bankruptcy applications the Judge may request to postpone the order to see if an IVA is more appropiate. If this ever happened you just tell the Judge you do not want an IVA that you have come to court today to have the bankruptcy order granted and that is what you want.
