I've bought a couple of things using my Visa Electron card on websites that don't say they accept Electron. I selected the standard Visa option, and the orders were accepted. I don't know if it'll happen on every website, but HMV and M & S have been ok.

Hi GT

As a discharged BR, skip can contact the Coop and apply to upgrade her Electron card to a Visa Debit card as they have a change in there terms and conditions then.

Nothing too exciting. LOL

Do Barclays give you online banking now? They didn't when I looked at opening an account with them, and that was what put me off.

Yup, I bought the DUMBO dvd on HMV a couple of weeks ago. I have also managed to pay for things over the phone with it too. The only place that I cant use it is onboard the aircraft!

Surely that is only a technicality? Yes, the t&c's might say that a visa electron card can be upgraded to a visa debit card for a discharged bankrupt but I would be amazed if the application for one is not turned down due to the inevitable credit reference check.

That was the information Jo was given when she phoned up.

We'll have to see what happens when I phone the Co-op! To be honest, now that I know that places seem to accept Visa Electron even when they don't say so I'm not too worried whether they upgrade my cards or not.

hey guys

I called the coop and they said to just give them a call after that date and they would say yes or no to being able to upgrade, they said its not guaranteed but it is a new thing that they are offering with the basic cashminder accounts now.

LOL

Thinking about it, I might actually leave it until the New Year after I've checked my credit files again to make sure my creditors have updated my files.
