Hi I am seriously considering BR as a way out of my situation. I have a telepone interview with the CCCS on the 16th. But that seems like an age away.
I own a house with my ex who left last year with the children I thought that I could keep it going, but have ended up in more debt. I landed a really good job 6months ago in london so have been renting out the place I own but making up a 400 pound shortfall on the Mortgage. the tennants have now left and I am not getting any more in as it has been a major hastle. The house in 50k negitive eq, So I want a clean start, as I want to vol repo. I have been staying in a house share though the company but I cant have my children stay. I have been looking at the rental market in london and its more than i was paying on the mortgage. but because the house I own is a 3 hour journey each way and costs 450 a month its cheeper to rent in london overall. plus the children need somewhere to sleep when they stay. the chepest I can find that is suitable is 1200. would this be acceptable for the OR?
My head is in a mess from lack of sleep so any help would be great as I will no doubt have loads of questions. |

Hi there and a lovely, warm welcome.
You have come to the right place where you will get lots of free advice and support.
Renting in London will not be a problem, just going on what your circumatnces. It is important that in section 13 you detail why your rent is so high and weigh this up with the other alternatives. My ex is having the same problem, trust me. Try and secure a place before you go BR though, that way when you complete your forms they will be more straightforward. Best of luck x

Thanks TD,
That has made me feel so much better, I am just worried about what the OR and the judge will think with the rent being so high. But like you say its london and thats the market price.
I am looking to rent before I apply so I am settled and then do the deed.
The other thing that is a concern. I obviously have to travel to pick up the kids by train its a 3 hour journey and cost £90 each weekend. I see them every other weekend so that makes travel expences 195 per month. That is so much cheeper than the car cost's as its a 400 mile round trip per weekend. I dont have a car but wanted to explain that.
Thanks again. |

Hey and welcome from me too
As long as your not paying over the odds in london then as td says then that wont be a problem. You are clearly at that stage where everything is going round in your head at a hundred miles an hour, however as time goes on it will becaome clear.
Post as many questions as you need to as there is always free, non-judgemental support and advice here.
Take care
Jenny

Thanks Moneyworries,
Yeah your right everything is going around in my head, I have not had a good sleep for over a week.
I do have a To Do List, and the next thing is to speak with my boss and ask her what the implications could be about my job. I work for the council but I dont control any finances as that responsibility lies with my boss.
I have an offer in on a rented place Which is 175 less than the asking price, so fingers crossed. I asked the estate agent about the Credit check and they just check for CCJ's and if I am already BR. I Dont have any CCJ's so that should be okay.
Thanks again. |
