I didnt know this, perhaps you do already..........
If you have 3 failed DDs/returned payments then your account will be closed unless you can prove that it was not your fault!
I have had two since it opened, and now I am scared.

Hey TD
No...I did not know that - I have had 2 dd's returned (fault of the bank) - That seems quite harsh though.

I think you will find its in the T&C's, not 100% sure but i think i read it in there somewhere, so they are a little bit crafty.

We went in and opened one for hubby last weekend and they told us about the 3 strike rule. Perhaps some branches aren't as good as others!

I am afriad they do operate this 3 strikes & your out rule. It happened to me!
Each time a DD bounced they wrote to me advising me of the case & that they were cancelling all my DD's & SO's with immeadiate effect. (In my defence the first instance was my fault, the second was a result of them cancelling my dd's & third was not) Each time I put the account straight & advised them. I think the second time of it happening they told me I couldnt operate any DD's or SO's on my account for 3 months. Then due to no fault of my own, Sky took to much money & even after speaking to the co-op & being told they wouldnt close my account as long as I put back into credit which I did I still got a letter advising me they were closing my account on such & such a date.. I thought because I put my account into credit that would ok but standing at the till in asda waiting to pay my card was declined, they had cancelled it with out any further word.. After calling them to say I had money in my account what where they playing it & after being treated what I can only descibe as like the scum of the earth, I told them where to stick it. In my opinion the co-op are not at all friendly or helpful, in fact they are have caused me more stress & agro that declaring myself BR! I am now with think banking so far so good, am not overly happy with having to pay a fee but it will only be for a year....
just go careful with them & stay in constant touch with them...

You can open an account with Think Banking at any time as they don't credit check.
To be honest I thought they were a complete waste of money, and I would try Barclays or Lloyds before resorting to Think.

Hi
I hope you get it sorted out TD, i cant go to LLoyds as they were one of my creditors and they would want blood from me even now.
So hopefully we should be ok.
Take care

so do Lloyds do a basic account for un-discharged BR?
I couldnt go to Barclays as they would want my blood too! oops...
Personally I wish I didnt have to deal with banks, would rather stuff my money under my mattress, this whole thing left me feeling rather pants towards the whole banking world! |

Hi Skip
But how do you get on when they are your main creditor, like £45k owed to them.
LOL
