Can one file for bankruptcy in the UK without that status affecting you in another EU country?

Hi Heidix and welcome to the forum.

Bankruptcy in the UK will go on your credit file which will be global.

Sorry Julian, can you bach that statement up with a bit more detail please?

It is my understanding that there are no links between the various countries credit reference databases.

Hi

I think what Julian meant is that any financial institution, wherever they may be, can access the UK reference agencies records. Without any credit history in a new country I would assume that would be the norm if credit in that country was applied for.
