If I move abroad

If I move abroad and, at a later date, find that I cannot keep up with my UK commitments, can I make myself bankrupt in UK without attending the hearing and can I sign a Power of Attorney?

Hi

it does depend upon where you go to live abroad. If it is the EU the answer is no, you would need to petition in that country.

If however is is elsewhere in the world then you could theoretically do it from abroad.

The costs involved would be Ł150 for the LPA, they are taking a very long time at present, plus the court fee in the High court - Ł507.

you could naturally ask a friend to represent you or choose a company to do so.
