Hi there,
Could I please have some opinions on my expenditure submission. Just my wife and I.
rent 300 housekeeping 360 gas etc 80 water 30 phone 70 travelling 160 public transport 48 clothing 100 council tax 105
other essential payments tv license 11.38 car insurance 16 car tax 5 car spares and servicing 30 hobbies/entertainment 50 dentist/prescription/haircut 15 emergency household repairs 20
grand total 1400.38 monthly income 1200
I know outgoings are higher than incomings but advice so far is to put down what is available in the guidelines, i'm still concerned this will backfire. any thoughts?

Hi
I have some thoughts below
rent 300 housekeeping 360 - too high for 2 people unless there is a special dietry requirement like diabetes so allowances would be around £285
gas etc 80 - possibly on th low side considering how cold it is
water 30 phone 70 - allowances are usually around £55 travelling 160 ( do the maths to make sure the mpg for your car equates to this cost for monthly to and from work public transport 48 clothing 100 - too high for 2 people , probably nearer 40 - 60 council tax 105
other essential payments tv license 11.38 car insurance 16 car tax 5 - seems cheap? car spares and servicing 30 hobbies/entertainment 50 - not allowed in br expenditure dentist/prescription/haircut 15 haircuts at £10 each adult dental at 10 - 15 emergency household repairs 20 - as you have a rented property this is not allowed
you are allowed contents insurance boiler breakdown ( instead of emergency repairs) dry cleaning if needed for work sometimes they allow an allowance for a modest family break ( £15ish each ) grand total 1400.38 monthly income 1200
hope this helps a little

Thank you Paul for your help.
Are you happy that it will me more than the income?
And so I don't freeze on the day if the OR mentions it, what would an acceptable reason for it to be higher?

Hi Andy
It is quite acceptable for your outgoings to be higher than your income, so dont worry about it, the cost of living has gone up.
