had my interview with OR today which went well.. he was such a nice young lad, very reassuring and calm.. made me a nice cuppa when i got there. Was only there for just over an hour and all the things i worried about he didn't even mention! he asked me alot about why i carried on using cards / loans etc when my earnings were getting less etc, and i just said i thought we would be able to pay them back in the future.

He makes up a report for you to sign and then sends it off up to london to be looked at. He said he thinks i will probably get BRU / BRO for "continuing to spend on cards etc with no reasonable means of paying it back" but he said it shouldn'e be a long bro/bru.

Just so relieved to get the interview out of the way - i cried at every question but only because i was so worried about it all. In the end his report made my bankruptcy sound very straightforward and factual.

The chap was so friendly though.. kept asking if i needed a break and had a big box of tissues which was great!!! he was even going to let my 2 year old come with me to the interview but luckily i got a childminder!

i spent most of the time looking out the window whilst he put my long and confusing answers into short factual statments on the report!

He says i will get BRO in post, but if i sign and return it voluntarily it becomes a BRU and might be less time added.

yipee! just pleased to have got all the interviews etc out of the way!

hi - as far as i know a BRO (Bankruptcy Restriction Order) is placed on you if you appear to have been irresponsible in some way (in my case continued to use credit cards after i stopped working.)

You still get discharged after 12 months but then they place a restriction order on you which is pretty much the rules you are under whilst bankrupt (not obtaining credit over £500, etc).

Depending on the severity of your debts / spending etc they can last up to 15 years, but i am hoping mine will only be a couple of years.

a BRU (Bankruptcy Restriction Undertaking) is when they tell you you're getting a BRO but you agree to it straight away meaning you don't have to go to court (with a BRO you do go court). i think you just sign the papers and send them back.

This is how I understand it but i might not be 100% accurate!!!
