I am a U.K. citizen now living permanently in the U.S. I have debt with my U.K. bank in the form of a loan and a credit card. I have just lost my job here and will be unable to make any payments to them for the forseeable future as I also have debts here to pay off. How do I go about filing for bankruptcy if I am no longer in the country and if bankruptcy is not an option what else can I do?

Hi dingoespain welcome to the forum

I think you can still declare BR from abroad but it may have to be done in the high court in london and you may have to give someone else power of attorney over you .

You may want to call the helpline on 08000789367 they should be able to help you .
