Hi Jo Have only just logged on to the forum after being off of it for a few days. I know we spoke yesterday but I thought I would let everyone know that yes, I did it on Thurs 29th, it was fairly painless, there was quite a lot of hanging around but I didn't have to see the judge thankfully. The bit I dread now is the OR interview, can't wait to get it over with. James & Ken from Reviva were great as this forum has been, I don't think I would have survived as well without it. Jo, you said that the tears would come, well they certainly did last night, a few glasses of wine triggered me off, but the tears weren't just because of the BR but other things that are going on in my life as well, this morning I feel kind of numb but my daughter and son are taking me out for a pre birthday dinner which will be nice.
Just want to feel happy and settled again but for some reason I am feeling quite down. Never mind, I will get through it.
I will take your advice and start up my own blog, it may just help me a bit more.
To anyone else worried about going to court, it really isn't that bad, just keep thinking positive. Sandie x

Hi Sandie
I agree with Jo, it will get better, I was the same dreading the OR interview but mine lasted 10 minutes and she was lovely, the only thing she questioned was why did I take out a new Orange phone and broadband in December, I explained that I didnt think Orange would cancel it, and that I was going to do a DMP but decided on BR in January.
As I said to Jo the other week, it feels like a death, a clearing, everything seems logical and clear, maybe thats just me.
You enjoy your pre-birthday dinner, Im having one today too (Except its a McDonalds and DVDs), as its my 26th tomorrow, and im starting my diet tomorrow to loose 6 stone by Christmas 09.
Well done and good luck

Enjoy your birthday meal Sandie, and you too Stu!
Good luck with the diet as well Stu - I'm supposed to be on one to lose a couple of stones by June, but so far I haven't been motivated!

Hi there needafriend - the hardest step has been taken in filing the petition, there is no point worrying too much about the appointment with the OR try to remember they are there to help you through this process now the order has been made, they will help try to put any concerns you have to rest, and will only want to go through things with you, and they will be no where near as bad as you think, the main thing to remember is they are there to help and that they are also human and in no way scary. Good luck for the appointment and if you need to ask any questions you know where to find me - i have been on the 'other end' of the phone carrying out the telephone interview for more clients than i would like to count, and like my many other colleagues who currently fulfil this role want to ensure the full info is obtained whilst also helping the client understand everything - try not to get too worked up, a good tip is to write down everything you want to know so that you don't forget to ask!

Melanie has come across from the IVA website. She is VERY experienced in this field. So glad I've at last found a BR site with people that are experts in insolvency. Always good to get some professional advice. |

Hi
Melanie Nicholas is the Insolvency Manager at Jones Giles. They are probably the best IVA company around and I have had some very satisfied clients after suggesting an IVA.
Melanie Giles is a partner in the firm and a very prolific poster of the IVA site.
Hi Mel - welcome and good to have you here.

Hi there - and just to put the record straigh I am Melanine Nicholas sometimes referred to as 'the other Melanie' and yes work for Melanie Giles as an Insolvency Manager with many many years experience in the debt minefield. I have been around on the sister site iva.co.uk for the past year, on and off but have been asked by Melanie to jump over to here to try and help people who are going through the bankruptcy process - either considering it as an option or already in the system so to speak... Hi Skippy, long time no speak, and thanks for the kind words Paul. I am pleased to say i am now here for a while so fire those questions and concerns away

Hey Sandie
I too felt like you for a few weeks after the 'event'. However one day i woke up feeling 'different' and i really changed a corner - and that will come for you.
Hope you enjoyed your meal.

Thanks Jenny, I feel a bit better today but will be glad when the dreaded OR interview is over. I have heard so many mixed opinions about the OR, some say they have had a really pleasant one who was helpful and sympathetic other stories have been quite the opposite. I hope it is not the latter. Still waiting for the dreaded phone call and I know I am going to feel like a naughty child!
I have to say it is great just spending in cash and not having anymore of those dreadful credit cards and ovedrafts. At least I feel free and know exactly where I am. Sandie x |

I know it's easier said than done but please try not to worry too much. My OR was in the middle of the ones you describe - she was polite and efficient, but not friendly.
I'm sure it won't be as bad as you are imagining, and good luck x

Skippy is right, we all panic about the phone call with the or - i initially though i had a really bad experience (although they were firm), however once i had time to think about it and hear comments from other people i realised it may have been my head making it something more than it actually was.
You will get through it, maybe with tears along the way (like me), but you will do it.
