I know I've mentioned this before, but just wondering if anyone has got married before they were discharged?
I was made BR on friday and the court was not a bad experience at all, i found everyone to be really nice & helpful. I have interview with OR next week as i've recently stopped trading. I have hardley any assets from the business and live with my fiance, he rents the house.
We've been engaged for a year and planned most of the wedding, obviously i'm not paying for it and it was going to be a small affair. just wanted to know if anyone had any experience of this?
Thanks x |

Congratulations on the upcoming marriage.
Getting down to the nitty gritty financial side of it. It may depend who is paying for it but a marriage will not come under essential expenditure in a bankruptcy and will have to be financed from disposable income after essential items are taken off.
Of course, you know that your prospective spouse by marrying you will be financially associated with a current bankrupt and a former bankrupt when you are discharged. this will affect their credit rating in the future.
All the best.

Congrats from me too, but I would like to add that your new husband's credit rating wouldnt be affected unless you have any joint debts, otherwise there is no association. An expert will correct me if I am wrong.
Good luck and take care x |

If your husband has any problems he can apply to the credit reference agencies to be disassociated from you on your credit files.

Thanks for all your messages its really nice to get opinions of others. Do you think the OR will have a problem with having a wedding so close to BR? Even if I wont be paying for anything major as I'm currently looking for work so not earning.

To be honest I don't see why the OR could object as you're not paying for anything.
Enjoy the wedding, and good luck for the future to you both x
