Hi...can anyone tell me...are you automatically routed to the Official Receiver to handle your bankruptcy or can you appoint(and I presume pay...any idea how much approx?) your own choice of insolvency practitioner to act in lieu of the OR ?

Many thanks

The OR does not deal with the initial hearing at the court, you deal with them afterwards, and there is no way out of this.

You can get people to assist you to go bankrupt, but obviously this will cost you more than just the £495 court fee.

It is a fairly straighforward procedure to do it yourself.

Look at this website:

It will explain everything to you.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

If you are petitioning for your own BR you will need to complete the forms and attend court. Once you have done this you will have an interview (either phone or face to face) with the OR's examiner. Your case may then be passed to an IP if there are assets to be realised.

You cannot choose the IP, they are appointed by the Insolvency Service.
