Hi

My friend went BR in 2005 and got an ED after 6 nonths.
Is it to late to clean up her credit file.

If its not to late, can you give me some advice so i can help her get it done.

I have found out all the credit ref addresses, we need to get copies if her credit file, what do i write and how much do they charge, etc.

What do we do arfter getting the files.

I really dont know what to do so any advice will really help.

she still has all the names and addresses of the companys she owed. They were a bank, credit cards and catolouges.

please advise as i really want to do this for her as she has really helped me through my own BR and also i will then know what to do when mine ends.

Thanks
Sarah xxx

Hi Sarah

Bankruptcy will show on a credit file for 6 years following the making of the order, so in terms of cleaning up the file, all you can do is inform them of the dishcarge so at least the entry shows the discharge. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head are Experian and Equifax and you should be able to get copies of the files on line for a fee of around £2

The other one is Callcredit.

I wrote to all my creditors and asked them to make sure any defaults were dated no later than my BR date (so they will drop off at the same time) and to mark my account as either satisfied or partially satisfied rather than defaulted.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.
