Hi everyone, I have my interview tomorrow at 10.00 am, to say that I am dreading it is an understatement. I am almost certain I will get a BRO, not the end of the world I know, but I think they will say I have been reckless. Worried about my car as well, it is worth under £2000 but need it for my part time job. Will let you know how it goes but I can't see that being the end of it all. Sandie

Hi there, try not to worry take a look at Shirley's post this afternoon she had her interview and was dreadin git this morning, and it was not any where near as bad as she thought ! so if you won't trust an expert take heart in someone in the same position as you. Why do you think you will have a BRO? By the way the car is not a problem, just explain i need it to get to work and it will be okay, it is not of a high value. Relax try and chill out and please let me know tomorrow how it goes, will be here if you need any support or direct via 'experts' on the left if you need to chat over the phone

Hi Melanie, the reason that I think I will get a BRO is that I was spending on credit cards right up to Xmas, I drew out about £1500 in cash in December, most of that went on Xmas expenses though. I did spend quite a bit last year, mostly on household items not on luxuries or holidays. I am so nervous I can't eat or sleep. I just want to be able to move on which, hopefully I will this time tomorrow. |

Every case is different, but a friend of mine was spending right up until the month before she went BR and ended up getting ED and no IPA.

Sandie I had the same worries as you. Although I didn't spend quite as much as you, I had been using a catalogue right up until Christmas. I was literally shaking right up to the time the telephone rang. I know this is easy for me to say because I am on the other side now but it is not worth making your self ill over. Melanie gave me the best advice which you will see in her reply to my post.
Good luck and please let us know how it went. Which ever way it goes you know there are plenty of people here to give you support.

Hi Almost there not long to go, try not to worry too much it really is not worth worrying too much as for spending it is very rare to find someone going through this process who has not spent right up to the day of the hearing. I have even had a case when in the OR's who went and drew the money out on a card to file his petiton on the way to the court and they didn't get a BRO... Please let me know tomorrow how it goes, and I will be thinking of you like I do for everyone going through the process, sometimes I only wish it was possible to put people fears aside face to face but I couldn't see each and every one of you so have to make do with the forum, but you are in my thoughts, and I am available by email if you are stressed!

Try not to worry, several people who post here have had their OR interviews in the last couple of days and it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be. It will be over soon and you can start your new debt free life. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Well it is all over with, it lasted half an hour. You were right it wasn't as bad as I thought but he was quite an officias sort of guy, sounded like he had been doing the job for quite a few years. The bad news is that they are going to make me pay an IPA of £70.00 a month, he wouldn't allow holidays, Xmas or dry cleaning, I told him that I would not be able to afford to pay this, so he suggested that I check the figures, I will challenge it because I know of people who have 3 times more income than me and have to pay less.
I am allowed to keep my car, but my intention was to give up my part time job now that I don't have the debts, he told me it is in my interest to keep my job otherwise I might lose my car. So i feel I am in a bit of a catch 22 situation, no job means no IPA but no car, a job means an IPA and car.
Any thoughts?
And thank you Melanie and Shirley for your support. Sandie |

Sandie,
Congratulations on getting through the interview, I am pleased it wasn't as bad as you thought although the IPA is a bit of a bummer. I am sorry I can't give you any advice on that. I am sure Melanie will be along soon with her usual good advice. Best wishes for the future and I hope everything works out for you x

Hi and glad that it wasn't too bad. Await the outsome of uyour challenge to the IPO figure - if it changes all well and good, if not you have to make a decision (not immeadiately)what is better - a job and a car and £70 per month for 36 months or no job no car and no money to the OR. Only you can make that decision.
I would consider in your position the option of to wait a while, lose the job let them know so that the IPO is stopped due to lack of income, the likelyhood of them stating that you will now have to give up the car is highly unlikely especially if the arguement is that you cannot look for other work without it. OR consider that £70 per month IPO and independence of working part time plus keeping your car with no worries may be a sensible option bearing in mind you will not have the burden of the debt £70 is not really a high price to pay.
Well done though, life can only improve from today, have a good weekend and drink a toast to a debt free future

I understand what you are saying Melanie, but I am at an age where I want a slightly easier life, at 63, (albeit a young 63 and old enough to know better than to get into loads of debt)!! and I really wanted to give up the job and do other things, if I knew for certain that they wouldn't take my car, which I put down as £1400 and in poor condition by the way, then I would risk it, I know that is a decision that only I can make, but looking at your email, you would probably stay in the job if I have read that correctly. I'm glad you've got the interview over and done with.
Regarding the car, if I was in your situation I would stay in the part time job for the time being so that I could keep the car and my independence.
