Well here we go , first time on here as a member....
I can't see anyother way out apart from BR but i have some concerns , over the last year i have been heading futher into debt , part of me has been saying that things will get better but i know at heart that i won't.I have no fears of BR but i am worried about going to court and even more the OR.I have still used my cards to make ends meet and i have had to draw cash to pay off smaller debts that would have just caused more hassle to me (money owed to family member) and to make ends meet.I am very worried about how the OR will view this and if they will think that i have just been taking the mick ??????
I am sort of looking forward to to it as i have tried for the past 12 or so years to sort it out with no result .
My marrage has been though hell but we are still together , all i want is to get through this and start again.

Hi ineedsleep and welcome to the forum.

It is probably the most difficult part over with and that is the realisation that the current state of play doesn't work.

Almost anything else would be better.

Priorities first!

you and your family

your prospesctive future together

Everything else can be sorted out

Hi there and welcome to the forum - you have taken the hardest and biggest step of all in recognising/accepting you have a debt problem - now seek the right solution for you. Feel free to post on here any questions or conerns you may have, or if you prefer seek out one to one advice from someone who speacialises in debt. There are many avenues to go down for advice either by contacting an exspert on the forum (left hand side of the screen) to enable your personal situation to be discussed in depth or by looking on a site such as iva.com looking at the reviews and contacting one of the IP's features, or indeed by one of the many charitable organisations such as the citizens advice bureau.

We are here to support you so ask away, the important thing is do not feel you are alone, there are people like Paul and myself who deal with this day in day out and can give 'expert' help, or many, many people in the same situation but a little bit further into the process but we all can offer your support advice and guidance.

I am just in panic mode at the moment , i know this is what i have to do but feel that i will be frowned upon for not doing it sooner.
I have been in this war for over 12 years now , it started when my wife and i were working for the same company and it went bust owing me 6 weeks wages , i nevr knew but i was slef employed for them !!!!!(don't ask)
Since the it has been day to day , loan to loan , card to cars .
I have just had it , over the past 5 years or so i have watched as we have grown apart and it hurts...
I am no longer a fun person , always thinking on the problems , my hair starts to fall out at least once a year and my skin condition has got so bad i am now on steroids to try and get it sorted.
Anyway done with the self pity , move on now and look forward..

Today was a bit sureal as i have not fallen behind with my payments , mainly due to using another card to make the payments...the bank rings me ?????????(this is a first)
The upshot being that they want to give me a loan to put my lloyds card and overdraft together ????????? Oh My GOD..

The question is do i take them up on it as i need a little more time to sort out my affairs before going bankrupt or just say no and see what happens , but i have the feeling that they will want to shut down my account and that could realy cause some BIG probs ???????

Any ideas folks?????

And thank you for the kind comments so far , i have spent a lot of time today reading some of the posts on here , at last i do not feel alone....thanks all

i decided when posting on here that rather than give advice I would just let people know of my experiences and hope it helps. Debt consolidation loans are always an option but if you look at it another way all you are doing is replacing 2 smaller debts with one big one. No further forward really as by the time you add the interest from the loan you probably end up owing them more. I consolidated twice and just made things worse. As far as closing your account is concerned, when I originally contacted CCCS about my debts 3 years ago, as I had an overdraft, credit card and loan with the same bank that I had my income paid into, they advised me to open a basic bank account with another bank to have my income paid into. This gave me the opportunity and time to try and sort out a solution without the worry that the bank would take payments and leave me without enough money for living expenses. I opened a STEP account with Natwest and organised my finances from there.
As this is an account with no credit facilities and only a solo debit card they are far more likely to accept you if you have debts. My original bank did in the end close my account but by that time it didn't matter because I was using the STEP account for day to day banking.

I hope this helps.

Shirley
