i have a letter of discharge from the courts after my bankruptcy period was over but my credit rating is still bad. how can i fix this?

i would make copies of the form and send it to all my creditors asking them to update your file, you could wait and let them do it themselves but they wont be in any hurry, even still i would imagine your credit file will still remain in a poor state for quite some time.

Defaults and bankruptcy will remain on your credit file for 6 years - once something is placed on the file it cannot be removed so, if for example you defalted on a credit card payment that would show for 6 years. Your discharge does not clear your credit file. If there is something incorrect on your file you can place an update, or you can place a disassociation notice on your file if someone at your address ie partner has debt which ois nothing to do with you, but for your own personal debt history it is recorded for 5 full years and falls off naturally in the 6th year
