Hi, I've just made the appointment for hubby and me to go to court next week. Just a few questions if anybody can answer them. We have no choice except to take our 4 year old with us, the woman on the phone said they advise you not to bring them as they have no facilities for them, but if you have no choice it's fine. Does anybody have any experience with this and was it ok?? Also apparently after doing the paperwork and seeing the judge we will be sent to the official recievers office nearby - what will this entail exactly?? We are going to Reading county court.
And lastly I was also told that the fees are going up on the 6th of April - so if you don't want to pay more make your appointment before then!!(luckily we got the 2nd of April - we were offered tomorrow which I was very surprosed with!!)
Thanks for any help!
Jo

The Court will not be a problem with your youngster with you, as if you have to see the Judge (in many cases/courts you do not have to) you would both see him seperately so you could each take it in turns to look after the little one.

As for the OR's office, usually you would either speak on the phone or call in if nearby to book a telephone appointment, you will only be there for a few minutes. But I would ask that you receive some notice to enable you, if possible to arrange for someone to look after your little one whilst you have the pre-booked telephone chat with the OR's - if only to enable you to fully concentrate on the call, which being a Mmum myself I appreciate can be difficult when you have a child - mine would deliberatly play up if I ever went on the phone! Both you and your hubby will both have seperate telephone appointments, following on from each other, so try to ensure you have 11/2 to 2 hours available (more than enough time - call usually about 45 minutes long)

Hope this helps, and good luck and remember to let us know how it all goes

Remember to take 3 copies of the forms with you and do not sign or date in advance you have to do this in the presence of the court clerk.

Thanks Melanie - I was a little worried about taking him! He's very well behaved though! He normally goes to nursery but we have to travel for an hour to get to court and wouldn't be able to get back in time! Hopefully though we can do the phone calls in the morning when he's at nursery! We don't have any family or close friends nearby unfortunately!
