I went bankrupt on 31/3/09, and discussed my Barclays bank account with OR. It was opened as safe account for wages when we stopped making payments back in January. OR advised he had no interest in the account, and would write to Barclays. I phoned Barclays, but they said I would need to open more basic account than the one I have. The account has not been frozen, and I am still using, but not sure if I should get everything transferred to new Coop account, or wait to see what happens. Would prefer to just keep using this account.
Any account you open now will stay open now that you have gone BR. COOP cashminder account seem to offer the best with direct debits and online banking Thats what ive got now

Don't worry or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.(Baz Lurman) Life's too short!!!
if Barclays have already advised you that the account you have is not available to a bankrupt I would either transfer the funds, DD's and any income payments to the coop account or open the Barclays basic account and use that.
The account you have is no doubt more useful and is still operating. Once the OR's letter arrives on their mat that is likely to change so to avoid any problems I would change over.
