Hi Guys,

Well went to court today!! Mixed emotions, I thought I would feel really relieved but still feel quite stressed. Big problem with my paper work. I did it on line and submitted it about three weeks ago. I don't know how many have experience of Birmingham and whether it is the same everywhere? I had to go to a reception type room with two booths. I had my work colleague with me, we were told to sit down. The first clerk was really pleasant and started to check my forms, she then said I needed to write in my new address as I have just moved into rented accommodation. This meant sitting back down and filling in the three forms. I then had to bing-bong again for a different clerk to then start checking my forms. She insinuated that because my address was a different borough I was at the wrong court. I told her that this address is only 2 weeks old so problem solved. She then said you have not put in the full addresses of some of my cards!! The internet asked for postcard and "find address", I had not realised that the full address did not print out. She intimated that if I could not get the addresses within 15 minutes I would not be able to file today!! You can imagine my anguish. I then managed to get the addresses from a different part of the form plus a real kindly young man at the other kiosk rang 118 for the address for the other post code. I then had to bing bong again. Yet a different clerk came and said I had to number the pages!!!!! For all of you who have 3 copies of internet forms make sure you number the pages from Section 1 Personal Details as Page number 1. It is the page after the Debtors Bankruptcy Petition and after the Affidavit Start numbering on the page that starts "Section 1 - Personal Details".

I really could have done without the extra pressure of doing this with other people in the tiniest of rooms, papers everywhere!!

I then had to go to a different section and pay my money, then swear on the bible. I was surprised because I had to do this in front of a queue of people in a reception area!!?? I thought that would be with the Judge.

Finally when I saw the Judge, I must say, I did not feel as bad. He just asked me a few questions and signed the form.

Awaiting the call from the OR now to arrange my appointment.

So please do check about internet forms. They said it was a new rule so they may have altered the forms on the Insolvency Website now.

Will hopefully relax soon and start to feel the relief.

Sorry it was such a stressful experience, but at least it's over and done with now.

Perhaps it is just Birmingham that make such a fuss about the forms? I've not read about anyone else having any problems.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

Thanks Jan. You might be right. The one lady was so off with me and not helpful at all prior to me seeing the Judge yet when she brought me my final paperwork she was a different person, much more friendly? My colleague said it was almost like she was putting unnecessary hurdles in my way? I have now posted my keys for my "old" house to my Mortgage company without signing the typical "You are responsible ...." form etc. and gave them no forwarding address. I just want this new, wonderful, rented property to be my total new start so do not want to risk any problems at all.
Thanks Jan, will let you know how OR call goes.

People also need to be aware that on Section 5 I am really sure I detailed the type of card it is when I submitted the form but the final copy was blank. I think I must admit I did not check the final copy as well as I should have done, but like all of us, so much going on in our heads. So hopefully I can help those still awaiting their court date, especially Birmingham court.

You are right about that, frosie90! I definitely detailed the card types in Section 5(and - blush - I had half a dozen...) and I had to go through the night before and write them all in again by hand. Sounds like you had additional pressure which you did not need but you have come through it. Well done. Enjoy the sense of relief!!

Thanks Alisone. My current niggle is that I met my landlord last weekend for the first time. Only been in his lovely property for 2 weeks, having given up my mortgaged house, he was lovely and is looking for long term tenancy. I nearly told him about my situation and think now maybe I write him a letter hoping my BR will not affect my tenancy or should I wait??? Aargh, want to be free of niggles. People are telling me not to say anything.

I would let sleeping dogs lie. As long as your rent is paid ok, I don't think he needs to know.

Hi Jan, yes I think you are right. I am going to wait anyway for the OR interview I think. The only thing is that the neighbours, who I have only known for the two weeks I have been here, know. i ended up telling the one about my situation whilst we were having a cigarette the other day. They have made me so welcome and even had them drying my clothes on their clothes line!!! My problem, all my life, is that I wear my heart on my sleeve. I have no shame in what I have done but realise that maybe now the neighbours know it is only courtesy for me to inform the landlord (who lived next to these neighbours for some years). My plan, I think, is to see or speak to OR, then write a letter to Landlord/Estate Agent and then I think I will finally relax. Don't know what I would have done without this website. You are all such a help, an inspiration, and a relief. Rosie x

Well done for today frosie, at least it's over with - onwards and upwards :)

With the swearing the oath in front of other people, they do that no matter what you're taking. I had to take something different last year and the same thing happened so I don't think other people have a clue what papers you're actually signing :)

Sounds like you had a rough day but at least that bits over now and the rest of your life is waiting.
