ive been trying to pay a debt of 12000 for years. I split from my partner 4 years ago, he use to help me with the loan. Ive been a single full time working mum since the split. I rent privately have no car. I have an arrangement to pay some, im struggling we that. Do i declare myself bankrupt? this has gone on for to long. Also how much will this cost me as i dont think i would be able to afford that either.

Hi, went Br yesterday, cost me £510 in total but you can get reduction if you are on alow income. If you phone your local court they will send you all the info on BR and fees. I found them incredibly helpful and non judgemental. I would also suggest trying to contact Citizens advice as to wether br is right for you.It was for me. Read this forum, amazing people who will advise and support.Good luck, Steve

if your debt is less then £15000 disposable income less than £50 per month and you have no assets you amy be eligible for a new type of BR called a Debt Relief Order, CAB are dealing with these and it may be worth your while talking to them
