Hi Can anybody tell me how long it took them to save for the BR fees?

We decided BR was the only option for us end March and stopped paying creditors and stopped using credi to live on.

We are now living with 'real' money and are managing OK but having to save the BR fees is proving more difficult than expected. We have about half the money and hope to get the rest together by end August.

Is this to long?? We are getting hassled on phone and letters are arriving daily. Northern Rock and Egg have even said they will send somebody to our house to get money owed. Is this correct?? Or are they trying to scare us? When do they step up their action?

We really want to get this over with but we really cant save anymore than we are at the moment

Any thoughts on above would be greatly appreciated

Thx

There isn't really a length of time that is too long. Normally the creditors start to get serious after 3 missed payments so it would be around this time.

Saying that they will send people to your house is a scare tactic by a lot of companies however some debt collection agencies will send someone. Don't be worried by this as you do not have to pay them anything or answer the door and whatever you do don't let them into the house. They do not have any rights to enter your property so if you do answer the door just advise them that you will only deal with their company in written communication and ask them to leave. If they don't then call the police and have them removed for trespassing.

The worst that can happen is that one of the creditors makes you BR and saves you the £510 fee.

Do you have a mortgage or are you in rented accommodation? If you have a mortgage then the mortgage company can start repossession proceedings but this normally takes at least 6 months as well.

Thanks for replying.

What happens if they start court proceedings b4 I get to court to declare BR?? Is this when CCJ's are issued?? And then what?? Do I have to then pay CCJ or does this get included in my BR??

Again any replies really GRATEFULLY received.
