 hi am in debt of about 16000

hi am in debt of about 16000 with a few different companies, im out of work at the moment and claiming jobseekers , i dont own my own home is bankruptcy the best option for me

If you're struggling, and want a clean break, then yes. You'd be highly unlikely to be able to afford an IVA (at least 200pcm spare income) and a debt management plan would take a greta deal of time to pay off...

You should find out exactly how much you are in debt and if it is less than £15000 then a DRO would be better. Get some professional advice either from the CCCS, CAB, National Debtline or by selecting the 'experts' link on the left hand side of the page to speak to one of the professionals that frequents this board. They will be able to go through your financial situation and advise on the best course of action.

thanks and is there a quick way to find out how much a person is in debt and who he owes it to , reason been am getting letters all the time off people saying i owe different amounts and to different people???

You can either write to your creditors asking for a statement or check your credit file. Experian, Equifax and Call Credit should each have some/all of your debts on file.
