My partner and I have decided to go for it. I have tried to contact Bristol County Court today but the phone just rings and rings. I have several numbers including one which takes you through options but again it just rings and rings. Any advice how else I might book a BR date.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah still no luck. Tried to get through all afternoon. Stayed on the phone - ringing and ringing with the ocassional engaged tone. Does anyone know if it easy to just pop in and make an appointment or is their a massive wait.

You could try:

enquiries@bristol.countycourt.gsi.gov.uk
Bankruptcy Section - 0117 910 6726 / 0117 910 6756

Or it may just be easier to pop-in as you say.
