both going BR.
Hello again,

yet another question!
Both myself and hubby planning on going BR later this year but have big variences in wages. I only work part time as have a young son and earn approx £600pm, my husband works full time and collects around £1400pm. How do we list our outgoings, if we split everything 50/50 then my wage doesn't cover this. Would it therefore just be my husband who'd qualify for an IPA, if one applied? Or do we split the outgoings differently? Does the OR treat you as a joint case once both declared BR?

Hi,

Do you put both of your income towards paying all of the bills/food or do you pay for some things and your husband other things i.e. you pay for the shopping and hubby pays for the rent, utility bills, etc.?

If you pay for separate things then put your income on your form with any contribution from hubby and the things that you pay for. Do the same on your husband's form although you may not make any contribution to the bills he pays.

This is probably going to be the best way of doing it as then it would probably just be your husband who has an IPA if his DI is high enough.

Don't worry about messing the form up as the OR goes through it during the interview and changes can be made at this point. After the OR interview you will be sent a letter detailing your DI and how much, if any, the IPA will be. You have 14 days to dispute or agree with this. Once you have agreed then it is at this point that the I&E/IPA is set in stone and can only really change if your circumstances change.
