I have a BR court date end of July. I have stopped paying creditors (as advised by CAB) this month. I own my own property which is in negative equity and have stopped paying the mortgage (also advised by the CAB). I am saving the money for a deposit on a rental property. I am recieving daily letters from my creditors and asking advice whether I need to inform them either in writing or verbally that I am going BR prior to my court date to cease the letters and get them off of my back.
Hi WT71 It will make no difference if you inform them or not, if anything if they know that you are going BR the pressure will be more. Until you give them your BR number after the court date they will not let up, Grin and bear it for a little while longer.
Hi WT71. I was in exactly your position few months ago. I went BR on 7th April. Stopped paying credit cards through February and March and then stopped my mortgage in March. Before BR I wrote to my creditors (not mortgage as I was still up-to-date) just saying I was seeking advice and will contact them shortly etc. I also asked them to remove my telephone numbers from their files. Some accepted this in the short term but others insisted on having one number so I gave them my mobile number. This usually gives you a couple of weeks grace so your date will be closer. When my date got closer I would either not answer the phone, or when I did, just said that I have a date booked for BR. Good luck with it all.
