I have filed for bankruptcy today after a failed IVA. I have a telephone interview booked for the 20th July. Can anyone who has had this interview tell me their experience as I am worried about it. I retired in January at age 60 (with only the state pension) and with some health issues, having paid into my IVA for two and a half years. I wonder if I will be asked why I did not carry on working til my IVA was complete.
I walked to the court today on my own to file for BR. I was so nervous my legs were getting heavier the closer I got. But if anyone is worried about going it is not as bad as you think.
I am sure there won't be a problem with the OR. They will appreciate the circumstances behind your bankruptcy and I've not known of one yet who wants to know why your IVA failed.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time

Thank you Jan, you were a help to me last week as I was worried about going to the county court to file for BR. It was ok. never as bad as we expect. I have my interview to go now. I hope to be able to stay with the forum to help and encourage anyone else. Thanks again.
Being in an IVA will be looked upon very favourably by the OR so you should have a pretty easy time of the interview.
The OR will want to know what debts you had and with whom, when/why you took the credit out and how much the monthly repayment was. Don't worry if you can't remember all of the details as the OR will contact the creditors directly anyway.
I went bankrupt after my iva failed and the fact that I had been in iva actualy helped in 3 ways, 1)it showed that I had been trying to solve my debt problems,2)all my debts were over 2 years old thanks to iva,3)interview was much shorter because OR didn't have to ask me about all my debts because creditors already knew them all because of creditors meeting.
