if my husband who has left me declares himself bankrupt how will this effect me

Hi there

sorry to here about the situation with your husband.

It should only effect you if you jointly held liabilities for debts. So if you had a joint bank account with an overdraft, or joint loans or a mortgage together would it have an impact upon you.

Also does he owe you any money?

And also if you have any joint assets, where the Trustee would want to release your husband's share.

Hi Serendipity,

As Paul and Melanie mention you only need worry if your husband has joint accounts or assets with you.

I think the main area of concern would be if you have a jointly owned property.
