if i go bankrupt what would it mean give up control of my house as i rent it privately

Not normally and not as a matter of course but worth checking your tenancy agreement

The OR will normally write to your landlord to inform them that you are BR and check whether there are any outstanding rental payments.

so long as your rent payments are up to date you should have no difficulties - all a landlord is concerned over is receiving their money
