Hi Skippy

Ive been discharged from Bankruptcy as of 23rd July this year, some of my creditors have put the debts as settled from my bankruptcy date of 26th Jan 09 some still as default.

Do I need to write to my creditors and ask them to but the debt as settled or can I leave it.

All of the credit reference agencies now show me as discharged.

Thanks

The default date should be no later than your BR date. If it is, you can write to the data controller for the creditor and ask them to amend the default date to no later than the BR date. If you have a look at my blog there is a template letter and details of how to find the addresses of the data controllers.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

I imagine that the defaults will show until 6 years after they put the last one on, so that your credit record would be shot for much longer and your loans would show as outstanding still.

The glimmer gets brighter all the time
