Hi,

I have my court date next week (28th), from that date how long does the whole process take to meeting the OR and finally knowing when we could possilby loose the house or the car. As we have no assest apart from the above with little equity and almost 0 disposable income for the OR is it likely we will be discharged early.

i am getting scared but also excited that the end is so close (mix emotions of it all)

Thanks

I apologies for my keyoards poor spelling and grammar.

Hi all,

If you're lucky you might not get a face-to-face interview with the OR at all.

In simple cases where there are no significant assets to realise, they seem to shunt the whole lot down to the Canterbury office and it's all done over the phone.

You will have a brief interview with the local OR on the day at the Court and then a longer chat (possibly several weeks later) with Canterbury if they decide you don't need to see the local OR people.

Best of luck with it anyway.

My partner was on the phone for 10 minutes with the OR and they said he will get a letter soon telling him whats happening, he may have to go to their office which is in Leeds or they might do it over the phone. He has no assets and no surplus cash so his is very straightforward.

Good luck coco, my date is the 3 April. I have to admit my hubby and I are becoming a bit tense just thinking about it.
Here is what I have come to know about the process vicariously.

1. You remove money from the bank account. You enter the courthouse and get checked by security.

2. You go to clerk's desk and sign the petition, take an oath and hand over the cash.

3. You then sit and wait. Look around at other people; and sit and wait some more.

4. Either you'll go into a room with the District Judge or the clerk will hand you your petition already signed by the DJ.

5. You will either meet with your OR on the same day or a telephone interview will be arranged with the OR.

6. You then walk down the courthouse stairs and open a bank account.
You then go home and well...depending on how you feel about it either feel relieved or depressed or confused or maybe none of those emotions or maybe all three. OR you may break out into an enthusiastic jig giving the River Dance touring company a run for their money!

Take care coco. You have been through a lot in a very short period of time. You deserve emotional peace and a spiritual rest from this financial journey.

Oh! One more thing. After the 28th, can you please return my blue warrior helmet (smile)? You will not be needing it anymore. Stay strong my sister in debt. Whatever shall I refer to you as after the 28th (smile)?

All I have left is my sense of humour.
