Hi all, Came across this site by accident when in the depths of doom seeking some help. I have sat reading your topics for a few weeks, sort of feel like I have met a hole new bunch of friends but not actually met anyone!! Anyway, started sinking into debt couple of years ago, wife left me, took all equity out of home, was stuck with mortgage I couldnt afford, 18 months trying to sell home etc etc. Started just borrowing to pay more debt and realised few months ago I cant go on. Wrote to all my creditors asking for partial settlement figures or bankruptcy - got no help at all from any one of them!! Stopped repayments 3 months ago and been desperately trying to find a way out. Professional advice taken is finally to go BR. Just finished my online forms, been quite simple really as have no home now so in rented accom. I have no assets whatsoever other than a lease car, so not even mine. Feeling very isolated, pretty scared to be honest so thought I should get registered and say 'hello'. I have a thousand questions in my head and hope some of you can offer advice from your personal or professional experiences. I guess firstly is how do I find which court I go to, do I make an app. or just turn up, I live in Sale, Manchester. Secondly can I go for your recommended co-op account now or do i have to wait ti BR, dont want to set it up then get it frozen? Thanks everyone |

Hi, and welcome.
You certainly have had a lot of problems recently, I hope that things start to look up for you now.
You need to go to your local county court, I have no idea where that would be. If you ring the courts up, they will tell you and also lt you know if you just turn up or need an appointment - it varies fro court to court.
Apply for the Co-op bank now and get everything sorted before you go BR. Even if it were frozen initially, the OR will tell them they have no interest in the account and it will be back to normal within a short while. You can apply either on the phone or in branch, not online.
The glimmer gets brighter all the time

firstly hello and welcome
if you phone your local county court and ask about bankruptcy they can tell you about the procedure (it is slightly different in each court).
These are the courts for the manchester office
Altrincham, Bolton, Bury, Buxton, Manchester,Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside
on the bank issue, you can open up the account before the bankruptcy, sometimes the accounts get frozen for a few days so it is worth taking the money you will need out of the bank before the day |
