Hi there
Well, its been sometime since my last post, so a brief update;
I went BR on 10th Feb, had OR interview a few weeks later and IPA started in March @ £53 per month for 36 months. There was some talk of a possible BRU but got a letter a month or two ago saying my case had been transferred to RTLU so I'm assuming the OR has concluded thier investigation and I have not received notification of a BRU - so fingers crossed.
I had a pay increase of approx £100 in April and ammended my I&E, and ended up with an IPA of £166 for 20 months (over £100 increase but 16 months less in duration - I have no idea how that worked out!)
So, my two questions are;
1. I'm really struggling as a single mum of one to manage financially, and £166 IPA a month is extremely difficult. Is it worth contacting the OR for a review? I'm reluctant incase it rocks the boat if that makes sense? But I do feel that there is a very false view on the cost of living, and the increase in food prices seems to have rocketed in the last few months - or is that just me?
and 2. I'm planning on moving in with my partner in January, jointly renting a property. I have no idea what imapct this will have on my IPA and what I then count in my I&E? Has anyone any recent experience of this?
Many thanks!

If you are really struggling to meet your IPA commitments, I would contact the OR and inform him that you cannot afford the repayments as they stand over 20 months. There is no point you really struggling and if you are genuinely having difficulties, you should be able to come to some agreement with the OR.
You are due to be discharged from bankruptcy on 10th February 2010 but as you are already subject to an IPA, you would be obliged to inform the OR of your change in circumstances.
Al the very best.

Definitely contact the OR regarding the IPA. Have a look through the I&E that you submitted and see if the expenditure is realistically manageable. If you are spending a lot more on one item (i.e. food) then you should let the OR know and ask to complete another I&E and explain why. Don't forget that the winter is fast approaching so your heating costs will be higher for the next few months, which the I&E may not take into account.
If you move in with your boyfriend then you will need to let the RTLU know and they will ask you to complete a new I&E, which will need to take into account the bills at the new property and the contribution you make towards them. |

Many thanks for your responses. I will complete another I & E.
With regards to my changing circumstances when I move in with my partner, will the OR need proof of his I&E as well as mine? And is it just my contribution they are interested in? For example my half of the rent will be slighlty less than I pay now, but the monthly housekeeping will increase as my partner also has a daughter, also he will be paying for example the telephone bills as he has an exisitng contract, but I would in return cover more of the grocery shopping. So how is that reflected in my I&E? Sorry if I'm asking silly questions, I just need to be clear, I'm not looking to avoid paying an IPA as I accept it is a reasonable contribution towards the costs incurred due to my BR, however I do not wish for myself, my partner or our children to be further financially disadvantaged by us all electing to live together!
Thanks again,
