my husband is bankrupt and the offical receivers have control of the property, can we rent out home out for the value of the monthly morgage and move to a rented house that is cheaper?

there are several problems with this, i presume that you do not have a buy to let mortgage and so renting it out might breach the mortgage contract leading to it being repossessed. Your husband cannot receive an income from the rent as his half could be claimed by the OR, and as his estate is in the hands of the OR he might not be able to sign the landlords contract
