Council Tax will not Give Up!!!

My property company (Ltd) ceased trading (due to insolvency) over a year ago now but I haven't been able to strike it off, although I have resigned as director, as a number of the properties it owned are in the hands of receivers (and they object when I try). I have also been declared bankrupt as of July this year.

However, the council will not stop pursuing me for council tax on these properties even though I have written to them on countless occassions explaining the situation. They don't ever respond to my letters, just send out the next level of demand via standard letters.

They are now at the point of sending around bailiffs to my home address and I just wanted to know where I stand.

I can't see they have any claim on my personal assets (due to my BR and Ltd company status) and all the Ltd company assets (in terms of the properties) are in the hands of receivers but as I work away from home a lot I do not want to leave my wife with having to deal with them if I am not there.

What can I do to stop them pursuing me?
