If a creditor has petitioned for my bankruptcy, can I get the hearing postponed so that I can petition for my own bankruptcy?

Why would you want to? the bankruptcy period is the same - and if you let the creditors petition proceed, you get to save yourself £510

Just curious

Thanks for that Melanie but I have heard that if I am responsible and make myself bankrupt, I should be able to keep certain control over proceedings but if a creditor makes me bankrupt, I generally lose all control.

once the bankruptcy order is made the bankruptcy period proceeds in the same way regardless of who petitions for it
