Hello! The apartment is bought from me in Latvia (country). I the unemployed also cannot pay under the credit. How to me to recognise bankruptcy in Great Britain? How long I should work in England that I could put in the statement for the bankruptcy? Where I can get all necessary forms? If it is possible at you there is all information in Russian?

dobraye utra and welcome to the forum
if your centre of main interest is in the UK and has been for 6 months you can apply for Bankruptcy in the UK
you may want to confirm this by speaking to one of the forum experts (link on the left side of the page) like Paul Johns at RevivaUK www.revivauk.com
he deals with a lot of cases of people who are not now resident in the UK or who have not been for long

Don't worry or know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.(Baz Lurman)
RevivaUK helped me through it all i can't recommend them enough!!

Hello sergejs

It can be very complex applying for bankruptcy as a latvian in the UK

The official receiver is concerned about the number of bankrupt tourist, so you will have to show that you have been resident and that UK has been the centre of your main interest for at least 6 months.

are you entitled to any UK state benefits, the length that you have claimed may help ? i would suggest putting every receipt, bus ticket anything which has a date and from a uk supplier into a shoe box this again may help proove that you have been in the country for at least 6 months.

regards Richard

Sergejs

the rules state centre of main interest

work may be a deciding factor

bank details may help

for the last 6 months, where have you purchased your weekly shopping ?

do you always clothes shop in the UK ?

being to the point just renting the apartment on its own will not show that you have lived here all that time, you must be able to show that all of your lifestyle in the last 6 months relates to london and the UK

I was wondering the same thing.

To give the OP the benefit of the doubt, all I can say is that we cannot help with employment on this forum.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

If this is for real then you should be aware that the courts are cracking down on foreigners coming to the UK just to declare bankruptcy (BR) because the BR period is shorter than their own country. This means that it isn't just a case of living/working in the UK for 6 months and then declaring BR. You would need to prove to the courts that you didn't relocate to the UK just to declare BR and, from what you have said, this isn't going to be easy. The only way that I could see that it 'may' be possible is if you are offered employment in the UK while you are still living in Latvia (i.e. a job offer from an employer) as well as being able to prove that you couldn't find suitable employment in Latvia.

If you did come to the UK and declare BR and the courts decided that you only came here in order to declare BR then you would lose the BR fee (£522 in London, £510 elsewhere) and still have your debt problems.

My advice is to try to sort out your debt problems in Latvia as it is highly unlikely that you would be permitted to declare BR in the UK.
