The other party will be 100% liable.

Hi Sheila

Unfortuantly all joint debts will pass to the other named person.

We went BR at seperate times, my wife about 6 months before me, our joint debt were obviously passed to me, It took about 3 - 4 months for the banks to catch up and that they still could chase the other partner.

When they did start chasing again Boy did they come back with serious intent

regards Richard

Evening Richard,

You state that the creditors came back at you with serious intent.

Can you elaborate on what your creditors did to hassle you?

Many thanks.

Hi In 2 Deep

Phone calls were upped at my peak i was receiving three calls a day from each of the joint debts, I also had two unannounced home visits and a letter to my employer. (yes i did change home phone but needed mobile for work)

My intention was always to go BR but i had some personal issues to resolve before i took the plunge. Due to circumstances I was not always living at my home address

Letters were sent to my neighbours asking them to contact one of the debt companies.

As stated I was planning to go BR my wife went 6 months before me< i was planning to go BR in Feb and ended up going in Dec.

I can moan but it was my choice not to go BR at the same time as my wife and the consequence was self induced

regards Richard

I would have thought that contact with your employer and neighbours was completely unacceptable!!

Surely this cannot be tolerated, albeit academic in your case Richard.
