Hi Bret,

In Barclaycard small print, they have terms for general right of set off within the Barclays Group, If the account were frozen with surplus balances at the time of bankruptcy they would seek to exerise the right.

In recent cases I have had post bankrupty funds applied to the account and Barclays sought to setoff against the Barclaycard liability - they realised their error that when the line was cut there were no available funds to setoff and reversed the transaction sameday, confirming that the account could continue to operate.

This was confirmed by Barclays Financial Services Legal Notices unit

All the best Alan

Ang
simply asking wether you sorted the car out prior to bankruptcy but have picked up the other thread as well.

The best plan - as Brett says - is to negotiate with the official receiver for the value of the car.

It may be better to start a new topic as this one was last updated 18 months ago.

The Co-op should allow you to open a Cashminder account as this is very BR friendly. If they refuse then Think banking will definitely accept you however they charge a fee each month for the account.
